Everyone gets a comfy seat, plenty of legroom, and a nice, big window to look out. Plus, no other plane can rival the decades-long safety record of the Cessna 172.

Meet Your Pilot,Brendan Johnson

A Pennsylvania native with over five years of flying experience, Brendan is passionate about sharing his love of aviation with others. Though he has trained across the country, he earned his first pilot’s certificate right here in Lancaster County. His background spans a wide range of aircraft, from hot air balloons and tailwheel planes to light jets and turboprops. Having worked in several roles across the aviation world, Brendan approaches flying as a way to explore, connect, and help others experience the joy of adventure from a whole new perspective.

You’re Probably Wondering…Frequently Asked Questions

Does the plane have climate control?

We have heat for when it’s cold out. In the summer, we open the vents and/or crack the windows, and it’s lovely. (Most small planes don’t have AC because the outside air is quite cool).

Can I fall out of the basket?

Nope, this is not a balloon, so that’s physically impossible.

How long is each tour?

Our tours range in length from 20 minutes to 40 minutes. We recommend planning 1-1.5 hours out of your day for the entire experience.

can we customize our flight path

While custom flight paths are not standard you can always send an email prior to your tour to see if a certain landmark or location can be added to your route. Unfortunately, due to FAA rules and regulations, not all modifications can be accommodated.

What type of aircraft do you fly?

All of our tours are operated in our Cessna 172 Superhawk. We’ve taken one of the safest and most popular training aircraft in the world and packed it full of upgrades to further enhance performance and safety. The Superhawk boasts an upgraded engine with a high wing design to provide you with an ample view of the terrain and sights below!

How many passengers can the aircraft hold? Are tours private?

Our Cessna 172 Superhawk can hold up to 3 passengers and all tours are completely private. If you book as a solo rider your flight will truly be a solo experience!

How safe are the flights?

Safety is our first priority and Red Rose Flight Tours boasts an industry leading safety program developed and implemented in partnership with Arcalis Aviation. Before each flight, your pilot will use a flight risk assessment tool to ensure all factors of your flight meet strict safety criteria from weather to general hazards. Our safety program has been reviewed and approved by The Federal Aviation Administration.

Are there age restrictions for children?

There is no age requirement for our flight tours and we have children’s sized headsets available for use!

What happens if the weather is bad?

If a cancellation needs to be made for weather, your pilot will reach out as soon as possible with instructions for rescheduling. On occasion, we may be able to delay the flight to later in the day. However, more commonly we will issue a refund or re-schedule the flight at no additional fee.

How far in advance do you make weather decisions?

Weather can be erratic and changes can be sudden. Regardless, we aim to provide you with a weather update at least one hour before your scheduled tour. Your pilot will reach out as soon as a weather determination has been made.

Where do we meet for the tours? Is parking free?

Tours depart from the Main Terminal of Lancaster Airport. Passengers will meet the pilot in the foyer just outside of Florentino’s Restaurant. Lancaster Airport offers a large parking lot with free parking.
